L’ancora sconosciuto autore di questo dipinto é una figura di grande interesse.
Il pittore risulta attivo a Torino alla fine del Settecento e di lui si conoscono numerosi disegni con sigla e date che si scalano a partire dal 1770 circa e fino ai primi anni dell’Ottocento.
Agisce sotto influsso dei Cignaroli e della locale pittura bambocciante ma risulta conoscere bene anche le esercitazioni scenografiche dei Galliari e il gusto internazionale del periodo, comprendente accenni neogotici.
E’ auspicabile che l’artista possa essere oggetto di ulteriori indagini.

The still unknown author of this painting is a figure of great interest.
The painter is active in Turin at the end of the eighteenth century and he knows numerous drawings with acronyms and dates that scale from about 1770 until the early nineteenth century.
It acts under the influence of cignaroli and local bambocciante painting but it is also known well the scenographic exercises of the Galliari and the international taste of the period, including Neo-Gothic hints.
It is to be hoped that the artist will be the subject of further investigation.
